I'm about 6 months off from being able to afford any mods to the bike, but i'm starting to really, happily settle in to riding with the stock pipes. I'm normally a "loud pipes" kinda guy, but there's something very refreshing about the stock sound. It's almost comforting.
Anyone else still riding with their touring stock pipes too?
got a nightster with stock pipes , every time i get the money together some **** happens , this time my landrover TDV6HSE got a suspension problem , usualy cost a grand to fix , lol , bang goes the stage 1 tune again
I just bought a '96 police bike, and plan on leaving it the way it left the factory. On my other bikes a '93 and a '03 ultra, I lost count of how much I sunk into it for cams, breather kits, hi-perf mufflers not to mention chrome which you get 0 in return when you sell. I plan on just fixin what breaks with ebay parts, or new if that's all there is. The mufflers sound good enough for me.,,
I've got a 2008 Ultra and I like the stock pipes. It's throaty enough without becoming a "drone" on long rides. Plus, without modifying the exhaust, you can rest assured you're not messing with the way the motor runs as so often happens when modifications are introduced.
Still have stocks on. No happy with the sound. I do not like really loud pipes either, but the stock pipes don't cut if for me. I will be upgrading between now and spring.
Nothing wrong with rolling with the stock pipes for a while, after blasting 'em for a few thousand miles they start sounding pretty good. You can always change over to some new pipes in the future if you still feel the need...
i would like a little more sound. but it is running so well i hate to mess with it. we have a 08 fatbob we bought used with stage 1 and rush exhaust, it surges at low speed steady throttle . i don't want my 2010 flhtk to do that. mike
