No offense.
If that is the case, and your looking for performance you may want to consider these:

Voted get a sportbike. Vrod's are still exciting and will eat up your rider buddies larger CI engines with a little more comfort. And they can be made to look badass (check my gallery. I like it at least ) But if you are looking at not only picking on the fast cruisers but also other sport type bikes then Sport bike is obviously the way to go. I personally would love to have a Naked bike; Monster, Speed Triple, Brutale, etc. More comfort just as much swing!

I had a 03 vrod a little while back, that was the most comfortable sport bike I've ever had but it didn't compare to the handling-braking of the yamaha R1 I had. The VRod does accelerate hard from 5k-9k though and rides easy inder 5k.. That may be enough with a dyno tune and V&H powershots my Vrod was plenty quick. I'd reccomend an older Vrod with the 130 rear tire. The new fat tire Vrods don't handle for **** to hard to lean over..

Get a used sport bike and put a little aside for a dirt bike too. Life is too short to just for just one kind of ride.

You need to figure out what you want. If you want to go fast you are wasting your money upgrading if wheel stands in 3rd are your desire. If you just want a little more power in your HD your budget will allow. Keep in mind another bike means more insurance, maintenance, and depending on state more taxes. Can't make a sow's ear out of a silk purse (reversal intended).

Get both. I have bagger and 1000 sportbike and 450 MX. That way you can ride any type any mood. Good luck
