Did Chrome housings on my 91 with black buttons (they didn’t make chrome ones then)
Left it that way 14 years looked good.
Did Buttons and housings on my 08 Rocke,r looks good but all the chrome kind of washes out the detail.
Did just the buttons on my 10 SG and like the contrast, May b next year do the housings, want to live with the buttons for a while?
Both are relatively easy and you can do it in a day the hardest part is getting a new braded brake line to bleed without a vacuum bleeder. Then you must do braded clutch and throttle cables if you have them and now it’s time to run the wires in the bars, oh yeah you need chrome bars too… when does it end????
Lol

My advice for the brake lever shim is to use a rubber garden house gasket. i learned the hard way when i used a metal washer the first time and it slipped out and i broke the brake switch.

Before you start to remove the front brake lever squeeze the lever and place the rubber washer in the gap between the lever and the lever stop. The rubber washer will not slip out. Once you replace the lever don't forget to remove the rubber washer!
Take your time and you will be fine.

Good luck

The cardboard (or wood shim or washer or garden hose, etc) is to create a "gap" between
the brake lever and the brake switch "plunger" so that you don't break the plunger tab off
when removing and replacing the brake lever; I learned that the hard way..

Can you put the chrome covers on w/out pulling any of the black buttons off?
I could on my softail, but w/the 09, I don't think so.....That would be my issue...
I am also contemplating this move...but don't really wanna mess nothin' up...
So, may just live with it and leave switch housings and buttons stock..
