Default Zumo 665 mount on road glide

I've been very happy with my 550 for nearly 3 years. Tonight, my Paypal balance finally reached the point where I could buy the 665. Got it at Lakeshore for $819. I also bought the interface so I can wire it directly into the stereo.

Now all I have to do is decide on where to mount it.

I COULD USE SOME HELP WITH WHERE TO MOUNT IT ON MY ROAD GLIDE. Here are the options.

1. Mount it on the fuel door. Had my 550 there and I liked it. Doesn't vibrate and it's centered for easy access. Only issue is it's low in my vision during riding.

2. Mount it on LH side of the bars. I'm installing Wild 1 Outlawz with internal wiring. Wonder if I can run the Zumo wires internally???? Otherwise, I don't want the wires running down the outside of the bars. Doesn't really make sense to mount it on the vibrating bars when I can mount it on the fuel door or fairing and it will be solid mounted without vibration.

3. Dash mount. I really don't want to drill holes in my inner fairing. Also, it might be too far away from me on my Road Glide. I think the dash mount that HD sells is intended for batwings not RGs.

WHAT DO YOU GUYS AND GALS THINK?

WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

Thanks for the opinions, ideas, and even the jokes.

Steve

I have seen on this forum where someone had taken one of the guages out and made a mount for the gps. If I get one for mine, I think I will try the same.

Not a bad idea. I haven't mounted an oil temp gauge yet so I could just get rid of that useless air temp gauge. I could rig up some kind of mount that uses the gauge hole. That way I wouldn't have to drill holes in the inner fairing.

Thanks for the idea. You got me thinking now.

Powerlet.com has some nice options. I have the Power Bar Plus. It has a power outlet and a mounting hole. http://www.powerlet.com/product/hand...ts-gadgets/350

This is the mount I would use if I mount it on the bars. This is a Harley part #76000022

Uhmmm...might be time to get your tri-focals.
That's an actual HD color.
They called it "Mirage Orange Pearl"
