Default RE: XM Radio

I did the Aux thing today. What a difference. I'm not mad at the XM Roady 2 anymore...I was really getting irritated.

Bill, I will follow your advice, though I think the Aux thing sort of proves its the FM modulator.

I'm thinking I will route the wire through the fairing and then bring it out right under the radio, should be a clean install...I wish the FM modulator worked a little better though...

All in all, not really a big deal in the overall spectrum of life, now is it?

I've noticed the white noise also.I have to change frequencies when I'm on the road and go into city's with a lotta radio stations.

Do you get the Aux. wire at Radio Shack and will it fix the problem?

P.S. Thanks for the 3M thing Bill.It seems to have worked.

Mac,

If you are going to hard wire to the aux, be advised that Radio Shack had 90 degree connectors so the wire is not sticking out straight where it goes into the radio. This will give you a cleaner install.

Bill

Craig,

You can get the Aux wire, and 90 degree connectors at Radio Shack. The 90 degree connectors let you get a little flatter install for a cleaner look.

Bill

You might also consider the Ground Loop Isolater from Cycle Gadgets.

http://www.cyclegadgets.com/Products...p?pkg=ULT-XMRD

It also has 90 degree connectors and might clean up your signal even more. I like mine. Routed through the inner fairing through the clutch hole, zip tied the module inside to a couple brackets, comes out at right side handlebar hole and straight shot to aux jack.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I figured I throw in my two cents on the mounting ideas.

My setup for tunage:
Stock Ultra radio
Hogtunes
Wide windscreen from Custom FLHT Windshields (http://www.customflhtwindshields.net/). The windshield extends over the speaker pods which decreases the sound being lost in the wind.
Ground Loop Isolator audio cable from the Sirius to the AUX (http://www.cyclegadgets.com/Product...sp?pkg=ULT-XMRD)
DS-1 Dash Shelf (http://www.eglidegoodies.com/id127.html)
2 Easy Swivels with L brackets from ProFit (http://www.pro-fit-intl.com/)
I have my Garmin 2610 GPS and Sirius receiver mounted on top of the shelf in addition to a small leather windshield pouch.

Pics attached.

Ride safe,
Michael
