Was riding with my third cousin once, and he had a tool roll removed within about 1-2 minutes of our arrival at a local restaurant. Lost his pistol in that one, looks like they used a knife and just cut the straps and ran. They must have cut the strap and ran while we were walking to the door, we sat in the window to watch the bikes. Got to the seat, and it was already gone, and it didn't fall off either. LEO wasn't happy about that one, but the gun was legal, at least while my cousin had it.

Meeting at a store before a ride a week ago, my friend had his bike a little to the side of the store with no window in that direction. Went in and ate a biscuit maybe 10 minutes, came out and his helmet, gloves, and GPS were gone. I had to lend him my wifes helmet.

When I'm out and about and parking, I disconnect my Ipod and GPS then put them in the side bag. I always take my helmet with me. I can still ride my bike if someone takes my bags, but riding in CA without a helmet is not advised.

I had an old Bell shorty helmet stolen off of the seat a few years ago. I really never understood who would want to wear someone else's sweaty helmet.

no. I try to be smart about where I park it overnight but that's about it. edit-after reading the above, I remember I've had a Throttle Rocker swiped. I think it was at Sturgis, but maybe it was somewhere else.

Default Stolen items

I've had a highway peg stolen ( it was there when I parked it ), and a gas cap. Around here you have to watch leaving helmets on your bike; teens steal them as some sort of trophy. I don't get it. I still do not believe that another rider steals them, it's usually some punkass kid who's trying to impress his booger pickin' friends, or wants a few bucks for smokes. I teach high school kids ( mostly boys, automotive program ), some will steal anything they can sell for a few bucks. If I catch someone touching my bike or my wife's, I don't have to do anything...my wife will kill them...I'm a lucky man! :-)

I am surprised at how many mentioned being at Sturgis and rallies - ya think other bikers would have more respect for other bikers.

So far for me, I have never had anything stolen or damaged (knocking on wood)
