Default Upgrading 07 Road Glide to 2011

I have been happy with my 07 Road Glide that I purchased new but I recently saw the sedona orange Road Glide at my local dealership and me and the wife really like the color. The dealer went over the improvements (better frame, wider rear tire) of the 2011 compared to my bike. Looking at close to $25k out the door (power package, cruise control, CA sales tax 9.25%). A few more payments and my 07 will be paid in full and now I am ready to start the payment cycle all over again...LOL. What to do.

I wanted to get some feedback from others that have moved from a 07 Road Glide to a 2011. I did not have my bike at the dealership to see what it was potentially worth as a trade. So I am going to ask, what do you think I should advertise my 2007 Road Glide with just over 8K miles. The bike is fire red pearl with Super Trapp Se slip ons, Fuel Moto power commander, HD stage air filter, HD security with HD siren, PM Renthal grips, Hertz HCX 6.5 speakers, and ELF Audio amp.

I traded in my '07 Road Glide on a '11 RGU the first week of August. My '07 had a detachable Tourpack, RTDs, a Corbin dualtour seat, HD oil cooler, IDS, a Bagger Brace - and 33,500 miles on it. I really liked the '07, but the '11 RGU is a much, much better bike FOR ME.

1) New frame
2) Taller and wider - I'm 6'4
3) Brembo brakes - huge improvement
4) 6 gallon tank
5) range remaining readout
6) IDS standard
7) no 5th whine
8)103
9) wider rear tire
10) ABS

The RGU does everything better - more torque, better handling, better stopping, smoother ride with less vibration.

OTOH, the Road Glide Custom (FLTRX) would be a step down for me. It's a Street Glide with a sharknose fairing, and it shares the shorter shocks of the SG. That could be easilt remedied with longer shocks - cheap, if you can find someone lowering a tourer and get their take-offs.

Obviously, we have very different riding styles. 8K miles is a little less than an average year for me - I've got 3k on the RGU in six weeks.

Shop around - I did, and saved nearly $3k on my deal. If you live on the coast, try dealers inland. They seem to deal more.

2009 and up frames are much better then previous ones. I also like the wider tires etc. Problem with selling yours is, right now used ones aren't selling all that quickly. I'd probably see what they would do on a trade in if it were me.

If they want nearly $25000. seems like it would be cheaper to get the RG Ultra and just get the detachable hardware to take the tour pack off.

Here is my opinion for what it's worth(nothing). If the bike doesn't have ABS I wouldn't buy it. Just to important to most of the general buying public. Pay yours off and bank some money. When the economy tanks, you might pick up one for a nice savings. In the end, if you can afford it, hell go for it.
