Question Ultra Limited lowering ideas; questions

I've recently purchased a new 2011 Ultra Limited and after riding it a while I'd like to lower it. I'm 5'7" and my wife is 5'6". Yesterday after riding to Helen GA when we were parking my left foot went into a little bit of a dip and I almost dropped it on its side. Ride now I can be flat footed on one side and tippy toes on the other. I'd love to get it back to like my old Street Glide.

What is the best way to lower one? I've read a lot about Progressive shocks but I really don't want to lose the air ride. I also love the stock seat and do not want to drop a lot of money on a reach seat.

What can you guys who have lowered theirs recommend? Do I just buy the HD SG shocks with front lowering kit or is there a 'better' way? Can I get more than an inch out of lowering 'safely' without bottoming out?

The new stock HD seats for the Ultra's are lower than the 2010's, so I would suggest a set of stock take off Street Glide shocks and see where that puts you.

My 07 is not as wide as the newer bikes and I'm 6'1" so I was really going more for a "look" but, I like my combo of the HD lowered front end (highly reccomend SE fork oil for a better ride) & Arnott air ride out back. Ride 2 up 50% of the time and the bike's ride great either way.

Theres a smoking deal on a used set of 940's in the classified section. I think they would be much better, although more expensive than the SG shocks.

I am putting my progressive Ultra touring 940s on eBay in a couple of days but will let them go for 375.00 shipped

Our local HD dealer had a big ta do this weekend, so today I went over and drew from a raffle and pulled a 30% off ticket... So I purchased the lowering kit front and rear. So we'll see what happens.

Thanks for the ideas guys.

Make sure they change out the fork oil to the SE stuff! My front end would often bottom out after it was lowered with the stock oil. Plus just a better overall ride.

You might want to check out the drop seat kit... this solution is a little more expensive but you do not have to change suspension. Hope this helps. check out this video:

Try a reach seat, I just talked to a guy that is about your size and he can flat foot his limited now.
