Default Backrest mounting question

I am not sure this is posted in the right spot, but does any anyone know if the seat backrest mounting hardware for a model made before 2008 is compatable with a 2010. for instance can you mount part number 52475-01A on a 2010 model FLHTK. and if they don't match can it be modified to fit without to much trouble. From what I am reading the backrest mounting hardware is different after 2008 is that correct?

I have an 05 adjustable back rest on my 2010, and it fit perfect with one exception. You have to make or maybe HD will sale the one piece. Its a 2" long 1"X1" angle iron with three holes for 5/16 bolts. Two holes in the bottom to bolt it to the frame and one for the back rest.

Glide2005 is correct. The part is a mounting bracket with a part number 52590-09. I just did the same thing on my 2011 FLHTK. It only costs a couple of bucks. I had the backrest on an older bike and wanted to salvage it for the new ride since it was almost new and in perfect shape. You may also need an Actuation Handle Kit (52365-09) if the actuator on your backrest kit was not designed for an EG. That includes the cable, the handle and the bracket. It costs about $85, but thats still cheaper than replacing the entire mounting kit.
Have your local dealer do a kit breakdown on-line and you will recognize the parts that you need. While he is on the system, have him print the installation instructions for you as well.

Default back rest bracket

Here's a few pics of the bracket I made from some scrap metal I had laying around.
