Ok, so I've got the old bars off for a swap out to beach bars and at the same time I'm installing chrome switch housings during the change-out. I've disassembled the switch housings on the stock bars. Now which end comes apart and gets pulled out of the old bars and fed into the new bars? In looking at the switches, it looks like that end doesn't come apart. Do I take apart the plugs that go behind the headlight to pull out of the old bars? There's got to be a way to do it without cutting the wires. I have plug extension so I don't have to cut the wires to extend them.

Disconnect the wire connectors from their housing.
Feed wires through bar.
Re-install wires.

You'll need to write yourself a diagram.
The plugs have numbers.
Write the wire color to the plug number.

 

HUGE thanks BadPiggy!! Figured it out once you steered me where to look. It worked out to 1 beer per side including changing out the housings too!! Its all a learning experience!! Thanks again!!!!

the ol handlebar swap is a great time to invite the boys over for a drink , some music, some laughs, and oh ya.... head scratching.... but goes easy if ya look hard enough.please take this time to lube ur cables as long as they are exposed anyway.... or does wire extentions mean that longer cables were also bought.... just thinking out loud
