I'm not sure why you took issue with me directly but I am happy you are happy.

you gave your opinion, i gave mine..... i have no issue with you (if i did, it would be that you spelt my handle wrong ). but as 'master of the obvious', you missed something. the pipe on my bike is a 2-1. so there is no 'smashed pipe crossing underneath'.... its also not 'poor performing' either, but it is a bit cooler on the right leg....

like i said in my post, if one was inclined to do it themselves, they could get a stock headpipe for cheap from any number of sources. or they could buy one already mfg that way for quite a bit more.....

I didn't have a spare at the time but would have tried getting the cat out if i did. Just happened to find a good price on a true dual and decided to go that direction. Now my stock head pipe sitd in the garage just in case i need it in the future.

Skratch, I know you not calling a poker run to Lake Charles a "Long ride"?
Just picking.
After riding in the POW/MIA ride yesterday and then from Polk to De ridder and then to Lake Charles today i'm pretty worn out. It was a good ride, good people, food and band.

Default It's hard to believe any exhaust gets through that

but it does and the darn thing gets so friggin hot in the process. I'm so glad I put the power duals on. I couldn't be bothered cutting the stock pipe in half and then try to have it welded back in the exact same configuration.

I cut the collector in half, drilled out the cat, and rewelded mine on my 2010 Limited , cost $20
Wrapped rear cyclinder head pipe and collector with 2 inch by 15 ft. of header wrap, reibstalled stock heat shields over, cost $14
Fuel Moto Jackpot mufflers cost $300, Screamin Eagle A/C cost $203, Vance and Hines Fuel Pac cost $279.
Total cost $816
Bike runs and sounds strong.

I did the cut 'n' weld crap on my headpipe and I don't think it's worth the trouble... I gained 4 hp on the dyno and less heat and a bit louder but still wasn't happy with the sound , a couple of weeks later I installed the V&H Dresser Duals and I wish I had done that from the beginning..I had (still have) a big grin on my face after that.

IMO..Buy an aftermarket headpipe from start.

Even before my bike leaves the dealer I think I'm going to have the Dresser Duals installed and keep the stock mufflers...if not maybe the SE slip ons......I'm not looking for more power or more sound per say...more into heat reduction

Is a fuel managment system needed given the above scenario?

WHY! would anyone want to consider this? With already having the Real Bike, and so much Great aftermarket exhaust components out there tried and tested?

Have fun with your mods........... let me know if you need any other advice......

no, you're right. i thought about that after i typed it, but didn't feel like changing it.... in the grand scheme of things, it was long enough to get the oil and exhaust good and hot. but between the 2 rides, i did manage to put over 600 miles this weekend

glad you had a good ride as well...

Saving $450, solving a problem (excessive heat), and doing the work myself, like we did in the old days puts a big grin on my face.
