Default Bike stalled while going 80mph on the freeway. Any ideas?

After a full day of riding yesterday (about 200 miles), I was riding on the freeway going about 80mph and my bike stalls. It felt like it ran out of gas, but the gauge showed about a 1/4 of a tank.

I was able to pull off the freeway and try starting it again, the starter kept cranking, but nothing. All the lights work, plugs look fine, we even filled the tank to full with gas, still won't start. I ended up having to get a flat-bed tow home.

Bike is at the dealer now. It's a 2010 Road King with 11,500 miles on it.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Alex

I was gonna guess that, but there are so many other possibilities.
Could be as simple as a relay for the fuel pump, or as complicated as something telling the ecm not to fire.

You hit the off switch instead of the turn signal? Oh, that was me. I hope you get to the bottom of it quickly. Kinda scary no power at 80.

or the throttle body. Clean them out with spray cleaner and re-assemble with a little dielectric grease.

That's a problem I'd hate to have happen to me. Make sure you report it to the NHTSA so if there are others who have the same thing happen they can force a recall

Please post the problem once your bike is repaired.

That happened to my '05 Duece a couple of years ago. The dealer had it for a week and couldn't figure it out. They eventually reloaded the map, and sent me on my way at the cost of 1 hour of labor.
