Anybody know any must do rides in the Beckley area? I'll be riding in from KY through Huntington the middle of Oct. Definitely gonna see the new river gorge. I'd appreciate any advise. We plan on spending a few days. It's my first time riding W.V. Thanks! BTW, the group I'm riding with are all avid BBQ eaters so any advise on that is appreciated too!

 

Highway 16 from Beckley to Marion.... It is a blast, just watch for the coal trucks. Awesome ride...

 

Rt 60 from Charleston to Chimney Corner. Watch out in Gauley Bridge, LEO is a @#%k. Take 16 from Chimney Corner to Fayetteville. Turn left on 19 and cross the New River Gorge bridge. Stay a while and take the tour,ride the zip line, whatever floats your boat. Give me a direction from there and I'll give you a route.

 

Riding in Beckley would suck do the the trafic congestion (or at least the last time I was up there). I lived there 25 years ago so I don't remember a lot of road names. Riding through Shady Spring, toward Hinton, Alderson, down around the Greenbrier & New River are great rides. To many coal trucks and narrow roads for me North of Beckley.

 

Better check your dates.
They have "Bridge Day" in October...the bridge is closed that day.
I love the area.

 

Bridge Day is Oct 16. Rt 3 from Shady Springs to Sweet Springs is a good ride. Riding in Beckley can be a Biotch at certain times of the day. Send me a PM and I can give you some more ideas.
