Default Power Commander crapped out???

Just got back from week long road trip through TX, NM, & CO. On the last several hours of the trip along the highway, I noticed some popping on deceleration and by the time I got back, my right side slip on was golden. I thought something might be up with my mix, so I tried to check out my PC. I have no LEDs with the bike running on throttling, which the bike does run and start every time. My laptop recognizes the PC, but has a communication error. Any ideas?

Remove it and reinstall it (incase you have poor connections).

They were good about warranty, back when I ran one. Hopefully they still are.

Break all the connections and check for water.

Then Dielectric grease them and put them all back together.

This is what worries me about going with a fuel manager that eliminates the 02 sensors. I would want something that would go back to start automaticly if something went wrong.

I put my 02 sensors in my true duals, Left them unplugged, figured I can unhook the PCV in 5 minutes if needed, plug in the sensors wrap a rag around the air filter for restriction and ride to a shop or home.

Are you saying that you can't take off the power commander and still ride home (sensors or not)?

I think you can, you would have to disconnect the PC and hook the 02's back up. The problem would like the OP, if you are were on a long haul and it craps out you could ruin the finish on your slip-ons and even worse damage depending on the modifications you have done.

You would not need to hook the 02's back up to ride home. The eliminators are not read by the PC, they just provide feedback to the ECM that all is well. You could simply remove the PC and if so inclined block the air cleaner for a short ride home. The ECM does not adjust wildly for the o2 sensors - it is a small percentage for the tune loaded into it. If the o2 sensor feedback coupled with the ECM programming had enough data there would never even be a need for a PC or a retune... There is little to no value in worrying with 02's since the ECM doesn't know anything about what modifications were made (as that is in the PC). If you had light mods such as slip ons and air cleaner you would probably be fine for a longer ride without having the PC hooked up.

If it were me, I would simply ride it to a safe place and call a tow truck.

That's one of the big drawbacks to running a piggyback type fuel management system. It's one more thing that can fail. Hope you can get it figured out.
