Default Zumo 665

Pretty pissed off at my ZUMO 665. Started using last fall. Device is failing. Turns itself off any time it is installed into cradle. Right now it is a $1k door stop. Very frustrating. Would I recommend? Well at one time I would have. Has all the features, one would need to make it the basis for sound system for my RK classic. Right now.... See what Garmin does for me.

I was at the dealer yesterday looking at one. I just can't ever justify paying that much for a GPS. Yes, it does XM and bluetooth, and gps, but damn.. That's just a lot of cabbage for a GPS. I'll be perfectly content with my little nuvi 205w with a HD poi file loaded up to know where the dealers are..

The 665 reminds me of the 'consoles' they sold when I was a kid, i.e., TV and hi-fi stereo in a single cabinet. The 665 makes sense if you need GPS, AND XM, AND Bluetooth. The price isn't bad, compared to purchasing these functions separately. But then you're stuck with having everything integrated. Upgrade one, you have to replace them all, with the attendant cost. One breaks, they're all broken (sort of). (BTW, I've got a Nuvi, that I replaced with a GPS app for my iPhone. But I'm kind of stuck, too, as my iPhone's my Bluetooth 'transmitter' and the tuner for my XM, the receiver for which is the cradle for the iPhone... My iPhone breaks, or I trade it for something else, I'm looking at replacing everything else, too...) It's easy to fall into this 'integration' trap. Manufacturer's do it in order to try to lock you into their 'way' of doing things... Alan

If you want GPS on a motorcycle, Zumo is the way to go. Period. Oddly, when I bought mine, the HD version was slightly less expensive than the non-HD branded one.

Not cheap, but designed for a motorcycle and that makes all the difference.

Mine isn't designed for a motorcycle and I've yet to find something that my car GPS doesn't do that a motorcycle GPS does.
So what is the difference that I am unaware of?
