I haven't dropped mine yet from stopping but I know what you mean I'm very skilled at riding big bikes My Limited is my 4th touring Harley.
When my wife is on the back I have a hard time comming to a smooth stop.
When we were on vacation and I had my trailer on the back i didn't have the trouble that I have without. Go Figure.

I say fill em' up with gravel. It will give you more traction in the snow too!

After getting off a Yamaha Venture and onto my Ultra I felt the bike was extremely easy to handle and balance but the slow speed manuevers and parking lot practice never hurt anyone. I was in a lot one day doing these and I grabbed my front brake, yup I dropped her. Thank goodness no damage was done. Stay off that front brake at slow speeds and especially when turning at slow speeds.

Stay off the front brake when stopping with the wheel turned. That the fastest way to go down. Always bring the bike straight up and handle bars straight when stopping.

After you put 5k miles on it and some empty parking lot practice you be fine, as you have ridden different bikes and every one of em handles and ride differently. May be if you desire find that ride like a pro dvd and follow instruction and practice on your own or might want to take class IMO not necessary, if you can perform all the exercises on your own.Don't be scared and over control the bike you don't need muscle but indeed need lots confidence.

I had the same problem with mine until I realized that I needed to stay off the front break at slower speeds.

For God sake it is a Harley. I would work on my loading it on a trailer skills and waxing methods.

You may want to work on the "Jap Bike" thing a little; I wasn't feeling it!

Now I pissed a few folks off, just do some slow speed riding in open areas. After a couple weeks when you get back on Brand X they will feel clunky and hard to handle.

Enjoy the new ride - Welcome to HDF!

I have rode for 35+ years on many different bikes and my 2010 UC is the best handling bike I have ever owned. I have 13k on the bike and the more miles I put on it the better it gets. Just keep practicing and before you know it you will fell the same way.
