Default My bike is shocking me !!!

Just started noticing this in the past few weeks. Cruising down the road out of the blue I get a shock from the right button housing when my thumb is like a MM away from it. It may do it a couple of times on that ride and it may not do it again for two more rides. It acts just like a static discharge. Think I even seen a blue spark once. I have played with everything cant seem to duplicate it. The only thing I know to do is pull the switch cover apart and see if there is a wire shorting out. Seems to me that would blow a fuse.
Please tell me you know how to fix this, it is very annoying.
Guess I could just put a piece of tape there. Probably not .

Well I believe the S means standard. It deffinately aint a C but it does have factory cruise. It all seems a bit confusing to me sometimes when you see part listings some of them will just list flhr/c. Which I take to mean both and other times I see parts listing that use the s. flhrs

First, theres no such thing as a Road King Standard. There is the Road King, Road King Classic, there was a Road King Custom, which was the FLHRS.

That bike is no longer produced, what you have is a FLHRI. ;-)

This is all very interesting dont know what the I stands for. Definately going back to the dealer and ask him why he called my bike a flhrs.
I cant argue the point I really don't know, guess I will stop calling it that.

I think SIU 96 was asking why his bike was shocking him.

Look for a grounded spark plug or coil wire. I had a wire rubbing on a rocker box before and zapped me on the leg.

After a few hours of sleep that thought came to me, and another that straight battery voltage is getting to ground .

Not that this helps, but if you have battery voltage going to ground, you will have a larger problem than your thumb getting zapped. If you don't believe me, take a Snap on wrench and d/c the positive pole before taking off the negative. Make sure the wrench touches the frame. You will see what grounding a battery is all about. I learned that lesson 35 years ago.
