I get a little shock in my right hand when driving under high tension wires some times if my hand is against the inner edge of the grip. Seems to happen when there's three sets next to each other om the expressway. If I move my hand back a little it dosen't happen. It does have TBW.

I must say, some pretty decent input. After I finally got all the way woke up and went to work I realized it most likely would not be straight battery voltage, there would be enough amps to melt stuff, and it would discharge the battery. And on the other side of that coin is the switched voltage, it would most likely blow a fuse.

I also got this shock one time while going under power lines, but was unable to duplicate it. Will be checking the coil and wires this evening, other than that lets ride. My thanks to you all !

My '05 Ultra has been doiong this for the last 2 years. No pattern and maybe months in between. I have hecked everything under the fairing, gas tank, switch housings and battery. Everything is fine, I just get that unexpected shocking from time to time. Funny thing is that it always takes me by surprise and it takes me a minute to remember what's going on. Now, I will pay attention to being around power lines to see if that has any effect on mine.

The momentary zap is probably too quick to blow a fuse. If the bike is still under warranty, ask the dealer.

Oh, And I believe FLHR (that your showing now) is correct. El Rey must not know that they dropped the "I" when they quit building the bikes with carburetors.

OK, I gotta call bull$hit.

It's not 12 volts like has been said.

If it's coming from the plug wires leaking, it's got to be zapping your leg too.

The dealer is gonna say your nuts. I'm with the dealer.

No, the "I" was added for fuel injection.

A carbed Road King would be FLHR.

A fuel injected Road King would be FLHRI.

I would start with the battery cables and make sure you had a good ground...

Your body must be building up an electrical charge. Static voltage builds up slowly, then when it get's high enough it will jump to ground. Low humidity, wearing synthetic clothes and/or possibly riding under power lines could be causing it.

you are never going to get a zap from 12 volts even if it is shorted.. you can touch both batt terminals and get nothing.. it is eather a shorted plug lead(probaly not thru the bars) or static shock..
