Buddy's '07 Standard broke down this afternoon, about 50 miles from home, in the rain, figures it's the tranny. Got it dropped off at his house, dealer will have to pick it up Monday. Needless to say, he is CHOKED! Ran great with no issues, up till today.[sm=boohoo.gif]

Very sorry to hear this, be sure to let the rest of us know what part of the tranny let go!

 

Not good news indeed! Keep us informed as to how the dealer handles the situation.

 

Just wonder who the heck tests these things in the MoCo's R&D process.

 

Did you talk to him bh ? did the motor die or what ? If the tranny locked up i'm shure he would know it right away , if he could not get it home what were the symptoms ?

 

Did they have the problems with the 6 speed in the Dyna line during 2006.

 

a tranny loc up is much worse than a motor lock up...only thing worse than that other than explosive fire would be the neck breakin off

 

He said he heard a slight crack when he downshifted and then the tranny started making a loose, rough, grinding noise. Brought it to a stop, put it in gear again, rolled out slow and shut it down. It did not lock up on him, but it's busted!

 

Do you know how many miles are on the clock? Just curious. I read on this Forum where a transmission fluid dipstick broke-off in the tranny. Now THAT surprises me.....if true, then what the heck is going on in testing? Or is it an anomoly.....maybe the Taiwanese sent them a out of spec batch of dipsticks.
I have just under 1000 miles on my FXD35 and have experienced zero problems.....no 5th gear whine, either. I did take it in for the neutral recall, and that was an improvement...neutral being much easier to engage.

This stuff is depressing. I wonder what the ratio of good to bad is currently. []
