Default Cheap fix for a "short" kickstand.

Ever since I did the 18/21 wheels on my 08 SG, the bike laid too far over on the kickstand. Took some extra effort to get it up off the kickstand. I know lowering the front end would help but with the roads around here, thats not an option I want. So last night, after a few Buds I had an idea. I removed the stand and disassembled it. Drilled a 1/4 hole near the top and tapped it to 5/16 coarse thread. Threaded a 5/16 x 3/4 grade 8 bolt and jamnut in from the back. Now the bolt acts as a stop and the kickstand doesn't go up as far in the slot, so the bike sets up straighter. I flipped the locking tab over so it sits deeper in the the slot and locks the kickstand if the bike rolls forward. Bike is much easier to get up and sets like it should. There is a limit on how far the bolt can extend and the kickstand still lock in place when down.

the lock tab slips out when it is stock after a few years.. you better keep a real close eye on that

Can't remember who sold it but a friend had one he bought some years back, was a wedged spacer between the jiffy stand and the frame, longer bolts, shifted the angle of the stand down when down and remained essentially at the same spot when folded up. Will do some research for that.

This came up on a quick search, looks similar but not the same, would be worth a try, maybe a better choice would be to spacer it, measure the set up change needed and have a machinist mill a plate wedge to fit?
