dunlopp elite 3 tires
#11
I had 13,000 on the rear one when I replaced it, the front has 17,000 and dosen't show hardly any wear. The handling in the rain is great, tar snakes, etc like they aren't even there. Do whine a little, but I just turn up the tunes. Won't ever put anything on except them. I hear stories of folks getting over 18,000 on a rear tire, and I am from Missouri and they will have to show me. I never got over 8,000 on any brand of tire until I put the E3's on.

When my rear 402 needed replaced,I bought a set of E3's front and rear for this years 3k trip even though the front only had a couple thousand miles and looked new.
What a difference! I've ran 402's for years.I had no idea that they sucked so bad until now!
Anyone want a like new front 402? I thought I would keep it for a spare but now I know I will never put it on!

Yep. I just replaced my rear E3 at 12,000. Although the E3 rode and wore better than the OEMs, I didn't get near the mileage that others seem to get with these and this was all 1up riding. My mechanic suggested I was having too much fun with the engine build - could be right. I replaced the E3 with an Avon and although I've only got 1,500 miles on the Avon so far, I'm impressed. It rides smoother and quieter than the E3 and it turns in better. Most say they don't get that great of mileage out of the Avons, but hey, I didn't get that great of mileage out of the vaunted E3s either. My 2 cents, your mileage may very, the opinions expressed by the host do not necessary reflect the opinions of the station, void where prohibited, apply only to affected area, for recreational use only, slightly higher west of the Mississippi, and, most importantly, substantial penalty for early withdrawal.

Many people report 8k from D-402's... so 12k, would be a nice improvement

per Dunlop's site
front tire MT90B16 72H BW 4079-90 3.00 25.00 5.24 6/32 770 @ 40PSI
rear tire MU90B16 78H BW 4079-95 3.00 25.72 5.57 11/32 930 @ 40PSI
I run tires close to the max pressure as noted on the sidewall. Certainly within 10%, as that will keep the tire cooler, and lasting longer.
Lower pressures MAY give a softer ride... but the softer the pressure, the greater the tire flex. the more a tire flexes, the more heat they generate. The more heat a tire generates, the faster it wears out... or worse.
Just what I've learned from listening to folks in the know.... stand by for the rebutal commentaries
