Default Mounting a Street Glide fairing on a Road King

I want to mount a Street Glide fairing on my Road King, looking for thoughts, tips, advice, help, whatever you have to offer. So far a local dealer has sugested to find a inner & outer fairing & cut out the bottom & inside of the outer fairing to fit around the headlight nacell. I also am wondering if I should remove my nacelle and mount my headlight in the fairing like stock. Can I notch the mounting brackets and have a "easy on / off" system like my Road King windshield?

Any info, help, comments would be greatly appreciated, I hope to do this very soon (with your help!).

Bruce

THERE ARE COMPANIES THAT SELL FAIRINGS THAT FIT THE ROAD KING HERITAGE AND OTHERS. WILL PROBABLY BE CHEAPER SINCE YOU DONT HAVE TO FABRICATE. i THINK ONE OF THEM IS CALLED DRAGONFLY. CHECK INTO IT. YOU ARE ABOUT TO VENTURE INTO AN EXPENSIVE PROPOSITION. MAY EVEN BE BETTER TO TRADE THE BIKE.

Check out Hoppe or Dragonfly. That would probably be your safest bet. They make the fairings so that they are detachable. Check out GMONEY022 photo gallery.

Here ya go...some links to start your research...although they're all great choices, I opted for the lockable one and went with the deadcenter fairing. Mine is being painted and hopefully gets here next week. (Quick detach-same as the RK windshield)

I looked in to this and the cost was well over the trade difference on a 2001 RK Classic to an 06 SG, by the time you buy, change, paint, install good sound system. The trade was far better.

And I really liked my RK, like an old friend.

My 2cents.....

Good Luck

To me it'll be worth it in the long run...I ordered my fairing from deadcenter cycles, $2000 and change but it'll come painted to match my bike and comes with a premium sound system, and quick detach harness so you can take it on or off depending on the weather and or your mood..that's what I like about the Road king=versatility. (BTW, Willem is a great guy to deal with)
