Typically you pay the sales tax when and where you register it.

I've always paid sales tax when I register the vehicle I've purchased. I bought my truck new n Milwaukee and registered it in Michigan- I only paid Michigan sales tax.

Your situation may be unique. For a private sale I'm almost sure you won't have to pay Washington sales tax, but you will get charged duty fees when you get into Canada.

Same here.................I bought a truck in New Hampshire, but had to pay sales tax in Maine when I registered it.

Canada might be different, but I would assume you buy the bike and bring it back to register it with a bill of sale and you'll be fine.

I believe you'll be paying the GST when you bring it across the border, and your info has to be at the border 72 hrs in advance.

You will have to pay GST at the border plus a $200 RIV fee. PST is also applicable if you are in BC. As of July 1 Canadian dealers will not do warranty repairs on a U.S. bike.

Hey thanks for that info...

Looks like I might as well buy a used bike with no warranty left....
