Are some of the police Road Kings surplus from police inventory?

Ah yes, how could I have forgotten about the seat! And it's a GOOD seat! I think though, that the clutch is standard, nothing heavy duty about it.

The clutch is the same, the spring is different. It's stiffer for more "biting" power onto the clutch because of the 103's extra torque. That's why Harley's Big Bore Kit stages have the new clutch spring.

Correct. Cops like to start their bikes in gear. Then wonder why their starters crap out every 3 months. Derp.

better, much better.
lol, there's no difference in the way they ride. The air ride seat gives it an upright riding position, good for low speed handling, but not so comfortable for long trips. Some guys love the seat, but it was one of the first things I got rid of when I got my ex-police RK.

2010 flhtp
Don't need to pull in the clutch to start on 2010's... no experience with other years.
I think the dealer has to have it in stock for 180 days before they can sell cop bikes to the puplic... but IT'S WORTH THE WAIT!
I love mine. kept the air ride seat but added a sweet backrest. helibars, extended floorboards... oh, and did I mention the 4" rineharts...
90 MPH is just under 3.5 rpm...

We are trained to start the bike in gear (when engine is warm), stay in gear with the rear brake applied at a stop, mounting/dismounting from the high side along with other things for safety/duty reasons. Also, Police bikes are set up to kill the engine when the sidestand is put down while in gear.
