+1 on Marc and his wheel balancer. Did the same thing on changing tires. Have a NoMar wheel change set up that I share with a friend.

I understand fully. When I got my tumblers out of whack I thought at first I would have to tow it to the HD shop. I stupidly turned the ignition **** without first having the washer/spacer/nut assembly in place to position it properly at the right depth.

To fix it I just looked at the shaft and rod, then with a flat-blade screwdriver matched the tumblers up with the rod. It was a tense moment but it worked, and I won't make the same dumb mistake again.

Anyway, the Parnes tool does the same thing as inserting the ignition-switch ****, with the spacer assembly in place of course. With the tool you don't need that.

I've removed my ignition switch a few times with no special tools.Am I missing something?

Yes I did didn't I. HAHAHA! If I wasn't so cheap I'd buy one of those tools though.


iclick, you sure are a big advocate of not needed any tools for the switch. Let the guy make a buck, geez!

Can't complain about the service. I ordered mine yesterday and got a mail back in a couple of hours saying it shipped to Australia on the same day....
