Default Leather Tour Pak - opinions?

Hey all,

I have a 2007 RK with hard saddlebags. I'm thinking of getting a tour pak for the occasional long haul, but I am also pretty cheap. I can get an HD leather tour pak for a decent price, even though that is probably designed for the RKC with leather sidebags. However, I kind of think it might look cool with my hard bags.

Since I won't need the tour pak that often, I hate the thought of buying a new hard tour pak with the detachable mount ($$$). i would go with a used hard pak, but finding one that matches might be a challenge. That's why I'm thinking about the leather.

Any thoughts? Has anyone else done this (pictures would be cool).

Thanks

IMHO I think the leather covered Tour-Pak looks best on a RKC with leather bags.

I have a friend that installed one on a blue flhtp. In my opinion the leather tour pack on a bike with painted bags doesn't look right. I don't know his reasoning for buying the leather TP. If it was significantly less expensive I could understand. I would have just found a used TP and had it color matched.

For the occasional long haul I wouldn't see a problem since you said you really don't feel like spending the extra cash. I'd look for a used one in both leather and solid and you might find a deal. One warning though, if you do decide on a used hard trunk carefully check it for cracks and such. Alot of the ones I've seen are damaged.

Here's a couple of tour pack guy's to check out one is www.mutazu.com the other is
ebay motorcycle parts key in "motorcycle tour pack" there's plenty of new ones for
sale on there. I think with hard bags a hard tour pack looks better JMO

I got a chopped tour pack from halfpricetrade on Ebay - Painted Vivid Black $89.00 plus shipping - I do not use it much and the quality is not bad at all

I have the king tour pak and use it maybe 2 times a year. Here's a link to the a smaller pack that I use for short day trips. http://www.mutazu.com/products.php?c...285&s=prod.php

It's a decent pack and doesn't cost a lot.

Ride safe,

Bob.

One of the SE Ultra Classics c. 2005 had a leather tour pack. It was cool. I'll sell you my leather tour pack if you want to buy it. It was from a SE Road King. I have the top mount from a 2009 size fender.

You're better off just getting a lugguge rack and something like the Kury GranTour pack. Easy to take on and off and MUCH cheaper.
