Would you pass up a pre-2009 because it hasn't got the updated frame?

Most don't have handling problem with pre 09 bikes and if so for about $400 you can update the swingarm and engine mounts. Take a look at the TECH info here www.glide-pro.com The 09 classic dry/running weight is 827/864 (difference 37 lbs.) vs. 07 is 784/820 (difference 36 lbs.). so they are heavier also dry 43 lbs., running 44 lbs.. The difference in running weight doesn't make sense to me since there is an extra gallon of gas at about 6.3 lbs depending on temp. so don't know why it's only 1 lb. There are some great buys on 07-08 bikes so it depends on what you want to spend.

Well if you are constantly on the twistys in the mountains I think the buy on a pre 09 is better, As far as an pre 09 losing on a roll on is due to the gearing that can be changed with a 30 tooth transmission sprocket change than the 2009 and 2010 will be in your rear view mirror. You do lose the larger tire but that equates to more weight I,ve got an 07 and just changed my sprocket from a 32 to a 30 did the labor myself and made the tools needed in my garage and the cost was about $300.00. One thing that is a plus for the 09/10 is the exhaust crossing underneath the frame it does elimanate some of the heating issues, but Krome Wewrks does sell an aftermarket head exhaust that crosses underneath.

This is the age old same old question about an older bike.....the older ones are still good no matter what year as long as they have been well maintained by the owner or owners....I think the bikes, if taken care of, will outlast all of us on this forum right now...Of course .....there is nothing wrong with the newer models either...still the rider's and buyer's choice here...

I thought it was worth it, but I came off sportbikes and wanted something that handled well for it's size. I was impressed with the 09 up frame, and bought my 11 because I wanted a classic, and the 103 was the icing on the cake.
If I wasn't planning on riding aggressively at places like Deal's gap or up in Pittsburgh, I would've bought an 08.
