I would buy a pre 09 in a heart beat especially an 02 with timken crank bearings..;-)) good luck and keep in mind I am in the minority with my opinions on the 09+ bikes
Interesting.... I have an 09 and don't notice any throttle delay. Just so you know what I am running, it's an 09 RKC with a 103" Stage II, PowerCommander V with Autotune, and SuperTrapp slipons. I didn't notice any throttle delay before I put in the Stage II either.

The 09 doesn't have a cat either unless you have a California model.

No I would not, 99% of the riders out there couldn't tell the difference if it was possible for an objective test. Anyone who has bought one is biased, and the 2 frame types are set up different anyways, different sized wheels and tires just for starters. Get what you like and don't fall for all the hype.

To each his own but the 2008 and earlier bikes were fantastic machines and will provide years of comfortable, reliable service.

My take exactly. I am looking forward to many more years on my RG. For touring the pre 09 models are much more forgiving on rough roads. There are plenty of complaints on the newer frame. After all everyone is going to like their bike better than ???? On the other hand most report the new frame is great for more aggressive riding. Probably comes down to what you are used to.

I think the pre-09 bikes are just fine, but the new frame was one of the many considerations that got me to trade from Softail to Touring.

Guys with pre 09s don't think the '09 and up is worth the upgrade while the owners of '09 and later bikes "just don't know how they ever rode" a pre '09 bike. Surprised???

If you only have '09 and new experience you should find a way to test ride an '08 or older before you decide. I love my '07 but recognize the '09 and newer bikes are supposed to be improved. Never ridden one and no plans to in the near future.

I passed up an '08 for an '09 Street Glide. It wasn't JUST because of the frame, but a combination of things...miles, condition, price, etc. I did notice that the '09's moved me a little further back and felt more comfortable to me. The frame was a positive factor for the '09. If everything else had lined up I'd have bought the '08.
