Its happen to most of us. I'm glad there was no damage, your ego will heal fast.

 

So far, I have learned about 6 different ways to drop my Ultra, and I am still learning! LOL

 

First week I had my new Street Glide I pulled up to the auto store to buy some wax. Put the kickstand down, and it flipped back up somehow. I set the bike on the "stand" and it kept going all the way over. First time I've ever dropped a street bike, totally embarrassing... Happens to everyone I think at some point. Glad there's no damage.

 

Yep, I got that T-shirt too. There is a pretty good spring on my kickstand and after my "embarrasing" moment I always check to ensure it is all the way down

 

I've fallen over on mine twice. The first time I did what you did making a u-turn. I was going real slow and grabbed the front brake and bam. An old biker I know then taught me how to use the rear brake along with the clutch and throttle to make very sharp turns. Works like a champ.

The second time I fell over was on the way back from Sturgis. I pulled up to a stop sign without looking where I was going to plant my feet and unfortunately for me there was a 6" deep pot hole under where I needed to put my left foot. By the time my foot hit the bottom of the pot hole there was no stopping the bike from going over.

Live and learn...at least I wasn't hurt in either instance.

 

Front brake + turning = dropped mess or worse. Glad your ok and little damage to your bike and ego. **** happens, at least your man enough to admit it. Ride on and ride safe!

 

MAN - That is exactly how I dropped the Ultra one day after I purchased it! I worked at a national laboratory in Illinois (Argonn National Lab), and the safety nazzies had a requirement for all rides to wear helmets. I don't wear a helmet. When I got to the guard shack, I stopped and flipped the kickstand down hard and hoped off to get the helmet out of the tour pack. As soon as I got off the bike, I saw it slowly rolling forward and it flopped onto the left side. When I had flipped the stand down, it apparently bounced back a little - just enough that it was not locked when the bike leaned on it. Very embarrasing indeed. Several cars waiting behind me and my Ultra is taking a nap blocking the entry to the Lab.

 

Been there,done that. Stay off front brake at slow parking lot speeds. Order the video Ride like a Pro. Once you watch it, you'll wonder why you didn't get it sooner.

At slow speeds do not touch the front brake! ... Just like the video demonstrates.

Play with the clutch and rear brake only.

And, yep, I found out the hard way too.
