So Pitt's saying that it isn't his transmission that's clattering?

Hey ********, go away. If I wanted anything out of you I would tell your wife and have her get it for me. My "overrated" '07 is a far better machine than your '04, get over it. You are nothing more than a hater and jealous idiot. Jealous that you can't afford a new bike and do anything you can to try and bring happy '07 owners down. Some of us love our bikes and those without trouble are better bikes than the previous years, that's a fact.

ORIGINAL: TJRKC

I got a call from the service dept manager a couple of hours later asking if I realized that using any oil in the transmission other than HD's SYN3 may void any warranty on the transmission later.
Do you also realize they violated federal law by telling you that? Magnuson-Moss Act says they can only require use of their own parts/fluids if they supply them free. As long as you use something meant for transmissions your warranty is not affected.
Frankly, if I were you I would be angry about this. They are fully aware they can't say that. I would send them something in writing about this, and I would make sure they also knew you sent a copy to your state's attorney general.

Pitt do you think that the problem you were having is caused by faulty lifters now instead of the compensator?

Its possible the lifters,I stabbing at it of course. But my top end really rattled when on dyno last summer, dealer even commented on hearing some top end noise. It could be the comp sprocket transmitting the noise thru motor but my Comp checked out good. The bike has Syn3 in it and hasnt helped.I have read older twincam owners have replaced lifter type in noisey bikes and have had good results.

When I changed my oil at the 1K mile mark I used Amzoil gear oil in the transmission. I could actually feel a bit of vibration that seemed to be coming from the transmission. It only lasted for about 100 miles and then I didn't feel it anymore. Have you tired using a different gear oil in the transmission? Maybe something like Amzoil or Redline.
