Default Shenandoah Valley

I just got back from a 3 week TDY trip up to the Baltimore-Washington area (Fort Meade to be exact). Road my '06 RK Classic up from Savannah (large rucksack filled to the brim with all my uniforms on the back seat, small assualt pack on the luggage rack...all the non-bikers in my class couldn't believe it). The thing's 6 months old and it has more than 10k miles on it.

Anyway, while I was up there I had a chance to visit friends in Warrenton VA, where I staged for some country riding. Gorgeous country. Quick ride to Skyline Dr. West of Warrenton Shenandoah National Park is incredible. If you ever swing through the area I highly recommend you spend some time in Northern VA. Lots of history and natural beauty. The only sour point was Ernesto which kept me stuck in my friends' house for a day and a half on the way back down.

No pictures I'm afraid (it was only me alone and my camera stayed home), but I thought I'd give anyone who's wondering where they could travel next a possible destination.

T.

Glad that you enjoyed it. I moved up here two months ago and love the rides. I think VA has some of the best routes out there.

My family came down from Ohio and PA. over last weekend and we rode from Virginia Beach up to York, rt.17 up to the Historical Pkwy to Williamsburg then onto Richmond via rt. 5 then back to Virginia Beach via rt. 460. Man what a nice ride 231 miles. Nice ride!

Did you get over to Cancun Cantina while you were at Ft. Meade? Man, I have lived in Southern MD all my life and never went there til they had a show last month for bikes. Man, the women bartenders are awesome! It was like being in Myrtle Beach!

Riding the Parkway is awesome! Glad you had a good time in NOVA.
