OK will do....
How do I break these things you ask...LOL
I dont know....I'm 6 feet 230 Lbs.....Not like I'm 300 + or nothing..(not that theres anything wrong with being 300 +....but they just sheer off.....
The head that sticks up through the fender hole just says ADIOS in about 2 K mikes..
I ride all highway pretty much and ride long hours so there is alot of me pushing my feet on the pegs repositioning my *** so it dont hurt so bad....
Probably has something to do with the squirming around on long jaunts....otherwise I dont know..

Hey, if you were the only guy with this probem there wouldn't be a service bulletin on it.

Definitely keep us posted w/your situation IRT the rear fender damage. If they're a customer oriented dealer - they it should get covered. Also, if you FLHX is an 09 - when did your warranty expire...shouldn't if be two years?
I haven't lost a seat screw on the glide yet, but tossed one off my Sportster a few years back - luckily I didn't damage anything. Good luck!

I'm not sure we have the same design?? (an ultra and a SG)
But I'm not doing anything abusive but I SUSPECT....
Because I ride (weekends)5-6 or more continuious hours in a day at highway speed's I tend to squirm my *** a bit repositioning myself by pushing a little hard on the foot pegs and backing my *** into the seat to revieve some back discomfort.
When I push rearward in the seat all the pressure goes to the nut which is keeping the seat in place. The nut is designed to stick up through the fender by about a 1/16th of an inch....it is that part that sheers off.
I'd like to add the nut is made from that gold looking compressed metel material that is not strong at all......and so are the replacement nuts the same crap.
So I'm not going to blame myself for stretching or for not having a backrest. I'm going to blame the piece of crap nut that obviously can't handle it's intended mission.
It's just a poor design. The seat should have a 3 way rear tab screw(s) mechanism for support or something better than this. I'm only 230 lbs.....let a 300 lb guy move around on a long ride and I'm sure he will bust some nuts....
