My 2010 Ultra Classic with 200 miles has cd skip. Store bought home made and mp3 all skip. Bike was ok for first 50 miles.
Sometimes it switches to the weatherband.
Plugged in ipod as alternate and speakers cut out intermittently.
Used gps with radio fm emulator speakers cut out.
Happens only when moving.

Radio switching to weatherband is an indication that the weather alert function of the CB is turned on. If the weather channel transmits an alert signal, it will switch to weatherband. Speakers cutting out may be your VOX setting is too sensitive or the squelch setting on the CB is too sensitive. Lower both the VOX and squealch and see if that works. If the issue continues, contact Iron Cross Audio for more help. www.ironcrossaudio.com

The HK CD skipping problems are well known. I have a 2006 SG and fortunately the 7 year unlimited mileage warranty plan. The CD pretty much worked for the first 5 years but would skip when it was cold or when it was raining.
The dealer downloaded the latest software for the HK it still continued to skip. The dealer ran diagnostics which said everything was good but when road tested it continued to skip. They finally had to send it in to HK to be refurbished. Since then (1 year) no problems. Here is a copy of a HD sevice bulletin related at least one of the HK unit problems.

2006-2011 Touring Models Handlebar Clamp Screw Running Change/CD Skip
Purpose
The purpose of this bulletin is to inform dealers of a running
change to the fastener used to secure the handlebar clamp to
the risers. For all 2011 Touring models built approximately on
or after October 7, 2010, a new fastener, (Part No. 12600003),
is being implemented in all four locations on the handlebar
clamp. On all 2011 Electra Glide Touring models equipped
with the Advanced Audio System, the new fastener will provide
additional clearance between the two forward handlebar clamp
fasteners and the radio chassis. Lack of clearance at this location
has been determined to be a major contributor to CD skip
and other audio system concerns.

Required Dealer Action
On 2006-2011 Electra Glide Touring models equipped with the
Advanced Audio System, if a customer has concerns about
CD skip, inspect vehicle for contact between the handlebar
clamp screw head and the radio chassis. If contact exists, remove
the radio, replace the two forward handlebar clamp
fasteners (there will be no kit, the dealer will be required to order
two Part No. 12600003 screws) and reassemble following
service manual procedures.

CDA-105. It has ipod controls and a rear USB input. I run the cable under the tank and down the frame into the right saddle bag along with the amp cables. I leave the ipod in the saddle bag. I like it just fine so far. If I had it to do again, I would buy the Sony model with the "tune tray" where the ipod just slips in behind the faceplate.
