+2 on the RGU. If you are going to haul the misses further than the local hang out you will want the storage, power, shocks and wind control to do it right. Now if your misses happens to have her own ride than you don't need that stuff and you are a happy camper like myself.

I agree with GROUPW also. After riding mine for a year if you look at one of my other posts I wish I had all the other goodies that the ultra RG has. The CB for the Iron Butt rides I want to do. The ultra rear seat for Mama so that when she falls asleep, which she does, she won't fall off as easy and can sleep sounder. The lowers so may be I could skip the chaps under 40 degrees maybe, the ABS for safety, and the list goes on. If you can afford it it's cheaper to get it all now.

i agree with groupw, it sounds like it's going to be a bike for the both of you, so it'd make sense to get the bike that will work for both of you, rather than one you have to modify to fit both of your needs.

I went with the RG Ultra. Tour pack, 103, oil cooler, security, ABS, CB, intercom, cruise, bag liners, vented lowers and more. With the new narowed and lower seat I found the bike fit me better then my 09. In fact, this is the first time I have really liked the stock seat and I have no desire to lower the bike.

The 103" defintely pulls better then the 96" stock vs stock. I can tell the difference with my wife and me on the bike. Plus the 103 emblems just look cool If it was me, after riding both, I would go with the power pack. By the time you add security and ABS (and an oil cooler) you are almost there any ways. But I agree with the above posters. Get the ultra, and strip it for to cool for school look. Put it back on for touring down the big slab. I think the more momma rides with you, you will end up just leaving the tour pack on anyways. Why? it's confy for her, it's convenient to store crap without bending over to put it in a saddle bag, and it's a PITA to take it on and off, even with the quick detach kits.

I absolutely love my new Roadie Ultra. Best touring bike I have ridden. I have waited for them to bring this bike out, and Harley has a hit on their hands imo. Wouldn't be suprised to see some more colors mid year.

ABS worth the investment. Heck, just add a stage 1/cam down the road and you're done

I hear what you guys are saying about going with the full bagger, but I really don't like the look of full baggers so much. I'm probably just going to get a medium height backrest for the wife and see how that works. If its not enough padding, then a better seat would be in order. Just knowing that I can always upgrade to a full bagger is good enough for me. But I am about 90% sure I'll get the 103 engine. As many of you have stated, it just makes more sense. Thanks.....

Default Go for the 103'

TEK, If it were me, I would get the 103 without out doubt. I try to tell all my buddy's who are new to the motorbike world, let me save you 25k off the bat. EVERYONE gets the bikes of their dreams, usually a softtail or something else. Within a year or two, they end up buying a touring bike w/ hard bags. (I am guilty of this as well) My current bike is a 09 CVO ROADGLIDE. The 2000 CVO Roadglide was the 1st Harley touring bike that made into the cvo line. "THE FIRST TRUE HOTROD BAGGER". Anyway, for acouple bucks more, you can get the BEST value for a fully rigged bagger w/ bigger motor, abs, alarm, tourpak, 4 speakers, lowers, c.b, etc. Also the 103 is a proven winner. It's been around for a while starting w/ the CVO's & cop bikes. Change out the cams to 255's or woods, etc, new pipes, open breather, pc5/tts/scp race turner and you have a STRONG, running bike. Most people either love these Roadglide or hate em. Just seems like everyone is talking about the Roadies again. Once you get on one, you'll truly understand! Good Luck & ride safe, YELLOWBIRD
