Default Rear lowering kit and belt tension?

Does anyone know for sure if using a lowering block kit on the rear can affect belt tension? If it does, does it make it tight or loose?
Thaks.

the way I understand it, and it seems I have to refigure it every time, the higher the wheel, in relation to the frame, the looser the belt. if you adjust the belt, then sit on the bike, the belt will be looser. two up, looser still.

I never had to adjusted the belt on my 95 FLHTC or my 09 FLHX, but I did take the kit off the SG since I was dragging my exhaust occasionally.

I doubt it changes tension enough to make any difference. If it does, then we are all suffering from varying belt tension every time we go over a bump.

Just the opposite, thats why you leave the slack in the belt/chain cause when you push down it tightens..

As far as the OP quesiotn. I think it would make it a little tighter. Your moving the shock back which is moving the swingarm up..

umm, well, yes we are. The belt tension changes as the suspension compresses.

The only way that it would stay the same is if the drive pulley and swingarm pivot were concentric. In practice the change in tension is tolerable, obviously.

The SG has a different belt tension to the RK + EG etc, if you are lowering your bike just use the SG number in the manual.

unless i am missing something here or something has changed, i know on my 98 road king, as the bike was loaded more the belt loosened. if the bike was lowered, the belt would be more loose, right?

DefaultKnow this is old chat, thread or whatever but I just replaced my 03 Road King junk air rear shocks with non aired slammers which drooped its *** end 1.5 inches. Checked for bottoming out on bumps but overlooked the alignment on rear belt. After riding about 50 miles over a couple days with teen daighter on back noticed a squeaking from rear on decel & left turn. Stopped could see where belt was rubbing rear tires top sidewall checked belt tension was sloppy loose. Replacing shocks & other stuff never touched rear axle, or cams that adjust tension. Lowering does cuz belt to get more play with just me it seemed fine but both od us lowered stance more.

I have a Shotgun Shock, and I find if I lower it to much the belt gets tighter and makes it harder to shift.
