I thought about that. Certainly an option. Don't really care about the luggage rack, if I find I need that much space, I'm putting a tourpak on anyway with a luggage rack on top of it.

I called the dealer. They said with the detachable tourpak mount there probably wouldn't be any extra room, but with the fixed mount the tourpak can be pushed back (3 different spacing options). Does that make sense?

Sucks that the detachable mount wouldn't permit the same adjustments.

I take my rider's backrest off when I'm riding with my wife.....

I then rest my back ever so comfortably against her.....$%#*& .......It's like riding on a cloud.

I've got the chopped tourpak with removable mount on my FLHX and when assembling the mount to the box it has 2 options of where to drill the mount holes that are 1" apart. When I wake up tomorrow afternoon(night shift) I'll take some measurements if you want. I have both dock kits, 1 for the tourpak, the other for the sissy bar. My wife says the tourpak is more comfortable but that may also be from where the pad is hitting her back.

The tourpack has five bolts to attach it to the mount, mine happens to be fixed. there are two sets of bolt holes with about an inch diference between them. so if you look at one set as standard then the other will move the pack back aproximatly an inch.
