Default Evo filter cover on 09 96"er

Just installed a SE filter kit..............(waiting on a K & N element).

Will the "old" evo style round can fit this set up?? Sure look as if it will.

i honestly think it will fit, you'd have to match up the base of it, and a twin cam filter to make sure, and make sure the threads are the same inside. i would sugggest against it though, and so will harley for this reason. the evo filters will trap particles down to 10 microns in size. the twin cam filters are twice as effective and will trap particles down to 5 microns. that's the difference. i'd also much prefer to use the longer filter that the evos use, but will not do it because it's the wrong oil filter for the twin cam motor.

Do you have a S-E or simular air cleaner base?
If so, then the EVO cover will bolt on. You may need a gasket (PN: 29591-99) between the element and the cover.
If you ordered a 'replacement' filter and still have the stock base, it may bolt up but the EVO cover won't cover the original base.
H-D still sells their Nostalgic A/C cover (PN: 29138-91)and it is supposed to fit EVOs and and '99> twinkies. So a stock EVO cover should fit.

Thanks for the replies!! I have a SE back plate for 09 TC already......and a K & N filter coming.........(also for a 09)......thanks emwold as I was not aware of the filter difference.

Arlen Ness has a nice plain one that fits the SE back plate..........so it looks like a go.

It will fit, I have one on my 07. This is a real one off some old bike built back in the 80's, got it on EBAY for about $10.
