Default Progressive Monotube Lowering Kit - My Review

Installed the Progressive Monotube Lowering Cartidges in my '09 RG.
Was able to ride about 450 miles on Saturday.
Installed these per the directions.
Directions were simple, anyone can do this install.
The directions state to install 3 of the black plastic C clips on top of the spring.
Adjust as needed.
Well, let me be the first to say, I think 3 of these C clips is overkill.
The more clips you install, the firmer the ride.
Installing 3 of these clips is almost as harsh as riding with steel posts out front.
I can tell that these will be an improvement over stock, but I'll need to adjust to reach that stage.
I'm going to remove 2 of the C clips from each fork, leaving 1 on either side.
I think this will soften it up to where it needs to be, for me.

This is one of those products that you're going to have to play with to get it right.
If you don't like doing something over to adjust, then these aren't for you.

I installed the stock kit with 1 clip on each side and went on a 3k mile trip. My only complaint was with loaded tour pack, T bag and both saddle bags, I had issues at low speed manuvering. I also installed the 940 shocks. I spoke with Progressive and the steering issue was due to the rear being lowered an inch, thus increasing the rake and lightening the front, which is why the fe gets that way. I will attempt to shift the pack more forward next time.
I would try the 1 clip, I found it to be comfortable, adding more clips increases the preload and lessens the sag adjustment.

I have the 2" kit in with no spacers. That is what the directions call for. Ride is bouncy. Talked to Progressive several times and they don't have an answer. We are installing two spacers each side tomorrow. Does anyone else have the 2" kit installed?

Is yours stock height or lower. I put the 1 inch lower Mono Tubes on the front and the 940's on the rear of a 2010 SEUC. Havent put alot of miles on it since I did the front forks because of the weather. My first impression on the front end was firm, but not harsh. I also used the 3 clips as the instructions stated. Will using only 2 clips instead of 3 change the ride height also? Dont really need the front any lower, but may like it a little softer.

I did the 2" with the monotubes. I love mine. Not as much brake dive and handles and rides like a street bike to me . I like it .
