HD Oil

What are you using to determine that so many are moving away from H-D oil in all three holes? This is the first post I've read about it.
You may be correct but there are several that are still putting the same oil in all 3 holes. I've been using the same full synthetic in all three hole since the 5000 mile service. As long as the dealer says it's ok to do it, I will continue.
The only reason I would consider using different lubricant is to make the transmission run a little quieter.
Why don't you take a poll on the subject and lets find out?

Hey Wally09, I see your relatively new so here is a suggestion. Just use the search function to find out more than you will ever want to know about "what oil to use".
To answer your questions I think that once the marketing hype 'wave' went through the system, riders realised there are better oils out there for less $$$ than HD wants for theirs.
That and the fact that your hard earned $$$ in part goes back to the dictator Chavez in Venezuela via CITGO, the Venezuelan oil company who presently holds the contract to produce lubes for HD.
Besides the above as the primary issue (for me), do you want to use lubes in your ride that were produced by the lowest bidder?
I have run HD 360 in my 09 UC and it's not a 'bad' oil at all, just better stuff out for the same $$$ or less if you take the time to investigate.

Many try (and use) other lubes because of the high cost of the HD products.
Then again, a lot of the other products are more expensive than HD's.
So....it can't be a cost issue.
I use HD products because I bought a few cases on sale and I haven't used them up yet.
Yes....it is a cost issue.
