Fatboy vs. Road King
#21
Everyone said purty much what I was thinking when I read your first post. I had a (used) fatboy and loved it, but there was some sketchy stuff going on with it (I'm pretty sure it was stolen or rebuilt), so I took it back. Before I did so, I took my wife on it for around 1200 miles to Yellowstone. She was comfy. The trip was great. I figured I had the ideal set up with removable bags, huge t-bag, removable windshield.
After returning the bike, I test rode Night Trains, Street Bobs, Fat Bobs, and Road Kings. I could tell the Road Kings were much more stable for some reason (I still can't explain it). Then I found a used Street Glide I could not resist.
My street glide sits ALMOST as low as my Fat Boy did, but corners way better. I scraped the floorboards about 20 times in the three weeks I owned the Fat Boy. It's pretty much impossible to scrape with the Street Glide, and I have even lowered it 1.5 inches.
However, my wife liked riding on the Fat Boy more. Only because it had a big-*** Mustang seat on there. I hate big seats, but you have to keep your lady happy. The Street Glide seat does not keep her happy. I'll be getting an HD Sundowner Seat for trips.
Road Kings are killer. It all comes down to the fairing/stereo. I love the tunes. That's one of my favorite parts about the upgrade.
I do miss the Fat Boy, but like someone else said, I would only want one as a second or third bike. But if I had the Fat Boy Lo, That might be a different story all together. I absolutely love those.

Again, thanks everyone for the responses and advise. I have decided on a bike, and it's going to be an '11 Street Glide. I went in there to make a deal on the Road King, but after comparing it to the SG...well, let's just say I am still drooling. I knew I wanted the 103 engine, and it just wasn't offered on the RK, only on the RKC and I wanted the hard bags and no white walls. The one I have picked out is the Merlot color, when i got it out in the sunlight, and test rode it...the color really came out. Now comes the fun part..."Honey, guess what I did today!".....(ducking while knives and pots come flying from every direction)

I had a 10 street glide and traded it last month for a Ultra LTD. I NEVER rode a bike as smoooooth as the LTD. The 103 is nice on a big bike but you don't really need it on a hopper. I Had a CVO Dyna 07 with a 110. Whooooo was is quick but I hated the thin tire in the front. My SG & LTD have the cylinder cut off. I have never needed to use it but I'm sure it works.
Today I bought a 11 Fat Boy. I have never owned a Softail and tried it and the Fat Bob. I liked to Boy better and thought it would compliment my Electra Glide LTD. I pick it up tomorrow, I can't wait.
