Default Check your gauges!!!!!!

Tire pressure gauges....check them for accuracy....i know its been mentioned before, but it cant be over stated. I checked pressures with "Old Reliable (dial type)" then decided to check with my "New HD" small pencil type gauge. Difference of 10 psi....I dont know how accurate either one is...but will find out tomorrow. Get them checked!

I hate the pencil type gauges. It is a good idea to check them for accuracy, but I'll trust a solid dial over a pencil anytime. I have the HD dial with the braided hose. Only gauge I could get to work with the rear wheel on my bike. I am pretty sure no one at HD ever intended a human to actually get the gauge on the tire stem of a Road King Classic. The top of the stem is right next to a spoke.

I've seen this discrepancy lots of times and I always wonder how accurate my gauge is.

Just how would one go about checking a gauge for accuracy? Is there a standard out there for me to check mine against?

Thanks

I have one of those long truck tire guages that is very accurate, and I also find the HD analog dial guage with the braided hose to be accurate and flexible enough to be able to actually use. It's also got a tread depth guage.

I am going to check with the guys at Discount tire, maybe even the HD dealer.....probably a good place to start.
