Default What tires for an Ultra?

I tried a search and didnt come up with much so here is the question:

I have a 2009 Ultra and need tires. The dealer wants $600 to replace them both with replacent Dunlops. I only got 14K out of them, so that will equate to tires (and brakes) every year which is costly. Any suggestions on replacements for the D407/408 that may be better priced? (I know the issue with the 407 and that it's been replace by a new tire)

A better price would be somewhere other than your stealer...
I use Avons... about $250 for the tires and my Indy put them on for $100

Dunlop is supposed to release the American E3 this month for the 09 and up touring bikes.
You might check with some online dealers to see if it's available yet. Very highly rated tire for earlier bikes. Try sites like Ron Ayer, Dennis Kirk, Americanmototire, etc.

$600 is way out of line.
I bought a D407 rear from my HD for $189, my front was replaced under warranty with a 408,
but my parts guy said 408's they were under $150.
I bring my wheels in and my HD mounts and balances them for $20.
So $190 + $150 + $20 +20 would be $380 for a mounted set.
My front 407 was changed with a 408 at 8000 miles and I did my rear at 13000 before Sturgis with plenty of thread left.
I'm happy with the Dunlops.

Metzler is an awesome tire. Had them on my 08 Ultra. It handled and rode so much better.

IMHO Dunlop Elite 3. Buy them on line and carry them with you to a independent shop for install and ride on
