I had the HD ones on my old ride for about 6 months before I traded her in. I removed the covers and sold them on eBay. When I took them off, the paint was fine, never took them off until I was trading.

The mustang ones I have on my new ride have only been on for couple of months. Haven taken them off yet but will in the spring when I detail the bike.

One thing I will suggest is to put a few good coats of wax on the lids before installing the covers. That what I did with both bikes.

I use Ridetek "LidHaulers". I love them. Similar to the Mustangs but have built in straps that you can use for sleeping bags, tents, jackets ect. Came with two stuff sacks. Like someone said earlier, If you lay them out in the sun it really helps getting them on. But mine have been on for 2+ years and holding up great.

Thanks steelerdude1. Good to know. You installed the cover with lid closed or open?

They have to be open to slip them over the lid ends, but when stretching they wer closed, but not latched.

I'll try to take a pic of the underside of them so you can s e how they mount.

Thanks for the pics steelerdude1. The pics clearly shows how it's done, and looks easy enough.

I like the look of these but I was always worried it would mar the paint. I had a hood bra on a late 90s car and it ruined the paint underneath after it got wet one day. Has anyone had this happen to their scoots with the lid covers?

...... and if the sun isn't shining, you can put'm in the drier for a very few minutes before install to loosen them up
........ once on they'll tighten up nicely
.... i've had my HD covers for 9 yrs now & no issues with the paint. Like someone said, wax your lids well prior to install & yer set !

Now your talkin. That's the coverage I'm looking for, no wayward foot is going to do anything serious to the lids with a set of those, unless it tears a hunk of the cover off . I like the way they fit around the underside of each side, I've got a set of Mustangs coming to me. No one's getting on the back until I've got the lids wrapped with them. Thanks for the info guys

Just picked these up at Laconia Harley in the Mustang tent. Exact same as yours, installed, fit perfect and the lids close normally. But the latch will not lock, I tried pushing the lid down at the latch locking areas but no luck. Any help?
