That is exactly what I was thinking. It had great low end torque. I could get up to speed very quickly with the OL on back screamin her head off (happy screams). Once I hit 70mph and cruising It lost all power to do much else though.
If you had a 96" Ultra that had "great" low end torque and could "get up to speed very quickly with the OL on back" plus sounded diffrent (better I'm assuming) than the 103"... It had cams!
I can not speak for your state's requirements, but sound gets better after 2500 miles or there about. Sound deepens and barks thru power band. This was my experience with the 2010 Ultra 96. Ride safe and enjoy.
I just saw a show on TV this weekend and they did a full stage one on a 2010 SG and the bike only made 74 HP after, if your 96" had a cam on top of the stage one it could have been knocking down another 15 HP and a non smog cam will make most any vehicle sound better.
The 103 has 1.6 horsepower and 6.5 lb-ft of torque over a 96 in stock form. If you can tell the difference by seat of the pants, your a better man than me.

Guess I'm a better man than you.. My stock limited felt way stronger than my 2007 with AC/header/mufflers. And man what a difference when I did that to my 103.. Night and Day!

You can FEEL 1.6 horsepower? I'm scratchin my head. 09 and up comes with a larger rear sprocket, maybe thats what you feel. Quicker acceleration.

I could tell and yes the sprocket probably does make a difference. But after having this 103 for 13K miles now I'd never go back to the 96. The torque from this motor is awesome.
And regardless of if I could feel it or not... I really just wanted to say that I was a better man than you! LOL
