You will need to carry seven quarts to the dealer for the 1000 mile service. They will put 4 quarts in the engine, 1 quart in the tranny. 38 ozs in the Primary. If the dealer furnishes the oil, they will charge you for seven quarts and give you what is left over which should be about 25-26 ozs. If you have a dealership that will let you furnish your own oil, then you have a good one. Most dealers I have been to won't let customers that want there oil changed supply the oil. Unless it is HD labeled oil.

As for engine oil capacity. When I change the oil on my 07 Ultra. I just pour a gallon jug of Amsoil 20w/50 into the engine oil pan. Always registers on the dipstick in the correct position with the bike on the side stand. Never had any problem with oil spewing or blowing out. Owners manual for the 07 says 4 qts in engine, 1 qt in tranny, 38 ozs in the primary if just changing oil, if the primary cover is removed then it takes like 42 ozs.

Take 7 quarts and use whats left over to top off the primary on the next change. On my last change, I put about 3/4 of the fourth bottle in the crankcase. It shows 1 x below full on the stick hot on the jiffy stand. The owners manual does say check hot on the jiffy stand.

Quantity of oil in a bike has been hijacked by heated grips. Come on dude, let it go... THis is a question thread not a **** your neighbor of thread.

Thy use the other side of the dip stick that reads for side cars.

I have never had the bike take more than 3.5 qts of oil when measured on the kickstand hot and that is with an oil cooler installed. The op won't need more than 6 qts to do the job, guaranteed!

yeah, he will if he uses different oils for the engine, primary, and tranny.

(4) 3.5 qts for engine
(2) 1 qt + 6 ozs for the primary
(1) 1 qt for tranny

total= 7

course, you're gonna have 26 ozs left over from the primary, but that gives you your 6 ozs for 4 more oil changes..

4 Quarts high quality synthetic in the engine
1 quart Redline Heavy Shockproof in the Tranny
1 quart Redline Primary oil in the Primary

Don't listen to those who tell you to put engine oil in your tranny and primary.
Those people are lazy

HAHAHAHAHAHA how do I answer the title of this thread with a straight face?

"Geez, I dunno, I guess it depends on how much she swallows"
"I don't know if I can come up with 6 QUARTS on short notice"
"6 quarts? Who the hell do you think I am? Peter North?"

BWAHAHAHAHAHA geez as usual, nothing useful to contribute.
