I look about two inches over my stock windshield. Works well for me on good days, & means I only have to look through one layer of water droplets (on face shield) on rainy days.

I replaced the stock sheild with a 14" Windvest.I'm 5'10" and the sheild is about 1 to 2" below the bridge of my nose.
I prefer to look over the sheild but at times, still have to look thru.
I wont not want it higher to where I would have to look thru all the time.

I hate my stock shield, I'm 5'9" and it sits right in my field of vision. I either have to crouch down and look through it, or stretch to look over it. My next mod will be a new screen.

I'm 5'-11" with 33" inseam. I have an Ultra seat on the bike which makes it a little higher. I have a Clearview Med. windshield and look over it about 2". I prefer not to look through the RG windshield because of its curvature, which seems to distort view more than other bikes with shields I've owned. Good luck.

I know I am in the minority here but I want to look thru my 17 1/2" Clearview windshield. I want the damn thing to "shield" me from the elements. That includes bugs, rain, rocks and any other debris that is thrown towards my melon. Besides all that important stuff, the higher windshield cuts down on all the buffeting that comes with a Road Commode.

i have a custom so my stock shield doesn't count in your research. but that shield only lasted a couple of days until i got the windsplitter in. with the ws, i see well over it, but it has a flip at the top and it directs the wind over the top of my head. also, directs it to the side, about 5" on each side.

but i'm short (5'4") so my experience may not be the same as yours.

Looking through or over a windshield really isn't a "Road Glide" question. It pertains to any bike and is a personal preference although the 'experts' do recommend that you look over the shield. I couldn't stand looking through the stocker! Drove me nuts.

Personally, I've got a 14" Cee Bailey's SSC Euro and it's pretty close to perfect for me (5'6") in that I look over. I thought about trimming an inch off but will leave it as is.

I have the largest Clear View windscreen they make and I look through it. I just completed a 6,000 mile trip and I wouldn't have it any other way....on the long trips. I have a shorter windscreen for local riding or shorter trips under 300 miles.

I have a stock windshield on my 09 road glide,I'm 5'7'' with a 30" inseam and I look through it most of the time. I prefer looking over it. I plan on getting a shorter one by next season.
