I have an 07 RG. For those of you running the smooth ultra touring seat from Mustang (driver and passenger seat all one unit) it looks like from Mustangs website that the stock HD driver and passenger back rests work with this seat. Can you confirm? I would call Mustang but they are closed the next 2 days.

 

Yes, it works. I have the Mustang one piece on my 05 RG with the HD driver backrest.
All that is needed wrt the seat is the slot between the driver and passenger seat to make
it compatible with the HD driver backreset.

 

and if you decide to slap a detachable tourpack on later, the Mustang backrest bolts right on using the stock HD holes.

Just wondering if the wider touring seat has issues with the edges of the saddlebags rubbing or if I should go with a narrower rear seat? Sport Tour ?

 

I put the 3 piece mustang touring seat on mine, and it is shaped so it does not interfere or rub the saddlebags at all. How come Mustang can figure out what HD can't?

 

What do you mean by a three piece seat?
I have the rubbing problem with my stock seat. Dealer is going to replace saddlebags under warranty but I will be looking for another seat so it doesn't happen again.
