Default OTD Price for a 2010 RG

Been thinking about the RG for a while now, and got a price of $22,000 OTD for a brand new denim black 2010 RG with ABS. No security system. This is the total price including taxes. Good deal or can I do better?

$19,479 - base price with color option (black denim is a color option)
380 - freight
325 - dealer prep (estimate, but typical)
845 - ABS
$21029 sub-total
X 7% sales tax (assuming it to be about 7%)
1,472

$22,501 - total

You didn't mention cruise control, but if it has Cruise, add $295 plus tax.

So basically he's eating the freight of $380 and another $120 of the dealer prep.

Personally I don't think it's a good deal, especially with a 2010.

I bought a 2010 Street Glide at the end of June and the dealer gave me an in-store credit of $2,000.

I would look around some more if it were me. Or you may want to negotiate some things into the deal like "security" and some handlegrips, a shorty antenna, axle nut covers, pushbutton gas lid cover, windsplitter windshield (that little 4'' windshield is worthless), etc. Or better yet, just tell them you'll take the bike at that price and a $1,500 store credit. That adds up to about $2,000 total with the $500 we talked about above. Then I think it would be a decent deal.

My $0.02

Depending on how many HD dealerships are near you shopping around may pay off. My nearest HD dealership sells RGs like nobody's business. They have no 2010s and have sold everyone that has hit the floor the past 8 months. They do have 7 2010 SGs however and will deal on those. Last week on a long ride with my friends I stopped by an HD dealership 60 miles from my home and they had 4 RGS a only 1 SG from 2010. Obviously they are ready to deal with the 2011s coming in. A bit more searching could pay off.

Yep, location, location, location - if they have the only game in town, it's not raping you, but if there is competion, you should ba able to do better. Many won't knock off the MSRP price, but better trade in, free accessories, free services, etc. can make the deal sweeter. I took my trade in & told the dealer what I wanted to pay to upgrade to the 09 RG and he said he couldn't sell the RG that low. I told him I didn't care what the price of the RG was, he could work on the trade value, accesories, labor to install the same, whatever but I wanted to give him the bike in trade plus a check for a set amount. He spent 15 minutes playing with numbers and we had a deal.

would recommend getting cruise control. it's only a few hundred more and well worth it in my opinion.
$21.3 OTD (8.75% tax)
paint
ABS
cruise

before you buy the 2010 figure out how much it's depreciated during the first year. the 2011's might be a similar price and it'd seem sorta dumb to get a 2010 if you can get the 2011 for a close price as the 2010. in a few years if you decide to trade it in, you'll get less for a 2010 than a 2011. it just makes sense it seems.

That makes sense.......although the colors on the 2011's aren't as good as the 2010's - well at least in the RK in my case

Not sure about NY, but here in TX there are sweeter deals to be had. I bought a 2010 EGC 2 months ago for 19,000 even OTD, before the trade in. No cruise though, 4.75% loan. So, there are better deals around, but maybe not in your area. It want cost you anymore to haggel with them. (Thats a TX term for talking them down on price) Go to another dealer and get them to bid against each other.

I would at least shop one more dealer before I made the final decision. Its not a bad deal, but its not earth shattering either.
