The last poster brought up a good point. I'm not aware of a way to get cruise on the '01 bikes. This may not be a big thing but I just got back from a 2000 trip and it would have been nice!

I did a 1500 mile ride two up down south in July, and just returned home from about an 800 mile ride up north, to be honest never once wished I had cruse, I guess it's a personol thing, I have in the past wanted to put cruse on it, but I think only so I could say I have it, you all know how that is

Nobody has mentioned tires! Even with only 2900 miles those tires have lived longer then they should. Get the dealer to put new rubber on it now. Check the date stamp on the side of the tire. And yes cam chain tensioners are an issue with 88 twin cams. and the earlier ones are worse. I would plan on a change before 20,000 miles.

TMair,

If I am sweeping or even int eh middle of the pack, I agree that cruise is not a big deal. When I'm leading though, as I was for much of last long trip, it would be nice. I tend to get caught up in the scenery and my speed fluxuates making things tougher for those behind.

And I like rideing in the back, but I do spend a certian amount of time playing catch-up!

'cause my lease payments would either double, or i keep them the same and my rest payment at the end doubles if i decide to keep the bike, which is probable as i will have invested plenty in mods over the next 5 years...either is not really affordable...

2010 RKC retails here for 36K, and in fact a 5 year old RKC with around 20K miles sells for about 30K!!

I can get the 2001, 2900 miles (virtually new in my book), and i have a lower monthly and rest payment at the end.

plus its a damn nice Bike!!

Hmm, might be a silly question but have you looked into buying a used US or Canadian bike and having it shipped over? I would think even with the shipping and any retros you have to do it would still be cheaper and you own the bike.
Maybe I'm missing something here.
