Default Where do you buy your filters?

Well I went and bought some Castrol Synthetic today, they are having a special 5 quarts of 20-50 and a Purelator Pure one filter for $26 bucks. So I got the oil filter that fit my Silverado and went to HD for the filter for the bike. Now the trucks filters ranged from $4 to the best at $8.49 and the Harley filter cost me $16.82. So I started to wonder, someone has to make quality filters for the bike. Anybody have input on where?

On a 20 plus thousand dollar bike, I'm not worrying about
saving 5 bucks on each oil filter....3 changes a year.
I'm sure you can find comparable filters made by other manufacturers .....Someone somewhere posted a "comparison chart" of other brands of filters and how they rated in an test, maybe they'll chime in and re-post

$16.82?????????????..... Find another dealer. I just bought the black filter for $8.95. The chrome filter sells for $13.95. I alway's buy the black filter, I think it holds less heat than the chrome. I also like the 5 MICRON rating which was the best I could find while researching different oil filters. Ps:The prices I stated on the black/chrome HD filters are MSRP.

Good one Ronp42. To the OP you may want to check places like Zanotti HD, Chicago HD or LSHD1 for discounted filters thru internet sales.

I just spent $8.95 on a black one at my dealer. Sounds like time to find a new dealer.

I get mine from my local dealer. they give me a 10% military discount. I know, it's not a lot, but then again I'm not riding tens of thousands of miles a year.

I hear what your saying, but it's not so much the money as it is having someone shove it up you ?$$ just because you have a $20K bike.
